Frequently Asked Questions

Ask Me Anything Interview

Philly | July 2025

What is your process for making art?

All my illustrations start from good ole pen on paper. On a sketchpad, or any paper around I can find. I draw them with fine point Sharpie, sometimes I use an artist pen like a Micron or Le Pen brand. I then color them in digitally.

Are any of your drawings based on real people?

Nope! A question I get often, from observers while I'm tooning away- is: "Who is that supposed to be?" And sometimes "Is that me?" No, just characters sprung from my weird little brain! I've tried in the past to draw people if they ask me to, but it's a struggle. My mind just doesn't work that way. Even my mitten series stemmed from not having the skill to draw hands accurately...

Okay, but isn’t that woman with a banana Hillary Clinton?

It's not, I swear! Though, every single person at my senior show at Moore begged to differ.

Do you do commissions?

Occasionally! Depending on my workload I create freelance pieces. I enjoy brightening the day of pals with toons, bookmarks, stickers and crafty items. I recently ran my first "Doodle Booth" at a work event where I made cartoons "on demand", and it was a hit. I'm looking to do that more in the future, my markers and I are ready for hire.

What’s your favorite food?

RAVIOLI all the way!

Pasta in general is my favorite, Kraft Mac & Cheese is another loved meal in constant rotation.

How much mayonnaise should go on a sandwich?

Oh, enough to warrant multiple napkins. Maybe even a bib! Duke's Mayo all the way.

How should broccoli be served?

That's a vegetable right? The one that looks like a tree? Nah. Next question!

Would you draw someone like one of your French girls?

How 'bout French birds? Check out Day 3 of The 12 Days of Christmas.

The 2025 toons are very musical! What's up with that?

Many from this year are a soundtrack of sorts, illustrations to accompany any given song I'd been listening to that day... it's been a cathartic activity, I've found- in times of stress or heartbreak or excitement or joy, yada yada.... lots of them contain song lyrics. Though no portraits or references to anyone in the real world. I'm not Carly Simon.

I really like your work, how can I get more of it???

Thank you! I'm currently working on creating an online shop to order prints and custom products with my artwork. You can always contact me directly by email if you have a certain cartoon in mind you'd like as a print or merch item.
